New recycling partnership

The Toro Company is a globally known leader when it comes to providing solutions for the outdoor environment. Recently this company announced that they have started an excellent new recycling partnership with Call2Recycle, the company that is well-known as the nation’s largest consumer battery stewardship and collection program.

Now that this partnership has begun, along with help from the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute, the Power Tool Institute and finally, other participating manufacturers, the excellent and forward-thinking initiative will be able to start operations. This will involve ensuring that safe collection and responsible recycling practices are carried out, for high-energy batteries which are used in order to power outdoor tools as well as equipment.

To help push the battery recycling industry forwards, whilst also helping to support a circular economy, Call2Recycle has made the decision to partner with The Toro Company, Chervon, Husqvarna, Makita, Stanley Black & Decker, STIHL, and Techtronic Industries. These companies are all considered industry leaders and it will be through this collaboration that consumers of these various brands, will be granted access to a responsible end-of-life solution when it comes to high-energy batteries.

The Toro Company’s main focus is to provide solutions for the outdoor environment, such as ‘turf and landscape maintenance, snow and ice management, underground utility construction, rental and specialty construction, and irrigation and outdoor lighting solutions.’

Call2Recycle’s predominant role is to be the nation’s leading battery recycling nonprofit and stewardship program. On top of this, the company is dedicated to both protecting the environment, whilst also encouraging the growth of a circular economy, through making it easier to recycle and manage batteries that have come to the end of their lives.

Now more than ever it is clear how important recycling batteries properly is becoming, especially when it comes to the safety of people, property and the environment. This is why the new program is an excellent step forwards, as now, eligible and enrolled retailers will have access to both safety training and recycling materials. On top of this, consumers will have the opportunity to return end-of-life high-energy batteries to participating collection sites. At these collection sites, the materials will be assessed then shipped and processed, in order to complete the process for proper recycling.

Senior sustainability manager at The Toro Company,  Tiffany Brand, commented, “At The Toro Company, sustainability isn’t just a goal; it’s our very foundation. Our commitment to sustainability extends to our participation in the High-Energy Battery Recycling program, ensuring that even as we power productivity, we do so responsibly, enriching both the land and the lives it sustains.”

Call2Recycle CEO, Leo Raudys, added, “Thanks to the participation of our industry partners, we’re making it easier than ever for consumers to recycle their high-energy batteries with the launch of our new program. Together, with brands consumers know and love, we’ve created a process to conveniently and seamlessly collect, assess, ship, and process these recyclable batteries that are increasingly common in everyday products. Call2Recycle applauds the collaboration and commitment of our partners, whose dedication to safety and environmental stewardship is paving the way for a circular future.”
