Record-Breaking Turnout

Held at Messe Frankfurt on 11–12 June 2025, this year’s co-located E-Waste World, Battery Recycling, Metal Recycling, and ITAD & Circular Electronics Conferences & Expos marked a major step forward for the global circular economy community – delivering unmatched industry insight, international attendance, and strategic discussions that will shape the year ahead.

Over two action-packed days, the expo brought together more than 300 exhibitors at the forefront of innovation in e-waste processing, battery reuse and recycling, critical raw materials recovery, and secure IT asset disposition (ITAD). Attendees engaged with cutting-edge technologies, discovered breakthrough solutions, and gained insights from over 200 world-class speakers across solution-driven panels. From pioneering start-ups to global multinationals and public-sector trailblazers, the event was a powerful convergence of ideas and expertise, all focused on advancing circular economy goals and reducing environmental impact.

Outstanding Attendance & Global Reach

More than 60% of pre-registrations converted to onsite attendance, with a remarkable 87.3% growth in pre-registration figures within the three weeks prior to the event – underscoring surging global interest.  Delegates from over 75 countries joined, most notably from Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK, with CEOs and Presidents making up the largest share of senior titles in attendance.

Amanda Tring, Head of Marketing at Trans-World Events, commented:

“The 2025 edition surpassed expectations on every front – from international reach to industry depth. Seeing more than 4,000 unique professionals from around the world converge in Frankfurt shows that momentum in the circular economy is no longer just building – it’s accelerating. The feedback from exhibitors, speakers, and visitors has been overwhelmingly positive, with many describing it as the most valuable industry event on their calendar.”

Sector Spotlights: Insights and Innovations

At E-Waste World, the conversation shifted from compliance to competitive advantage. Sessions led by Bloom ESG highlighted a critical message: carbon insets are now central to both sustainability and profitability. ITAD leaders are transforming traceable processing data into real value, using environmental impact certificates to stand out in procurement processes and unlock new revenue streams.

Battery Recycling brought deep analytical power to the stage. The FutuRaM project, presented by Franziska Maisel and Max Tippner, delivered multi-scenario projections for Europe’s battery waste stream to 2050, detailing lithium recovery potential and a revitalised Urban Mine Platform. Discussions further emphasised the impact of EU battery regulations and the fast-approaching Digital Battery Passport.

At the Metal & Critical Raw Material Recycling Conference track, critical raw materials recovery took centre stage. Presentations focused on securing secondary supply chains, refining urban mining methods, and achieving closed-loop recovery of strategic materials like copper, rare earth elements, and aluminium. Case studies from EU-funded projects and private-sector innovators underscored the importance of refining technologies that deliver both purity and profitability. The message was clear: as raw material access becomes increasingly geopolitically sensitive, sustainable recycling routes are essential for supply chain resilience and green industrial growth.

Meanwhile, at the ITAD & Circular Electronics Conference, themes of reuse, data security, and digital tools took centre stage. From Fixit SA’s call for stronger industry collaboration to Bob Wesonga’s reflections on system traceability, the dialogue highlighted the tension between rising software platforms and the need for smarter, integrated systems.

Sessions also underscored a gap in circularity narratives – particularly around lifespan extension and reuse – indicating that ITAD is ready for a shift beyond risk management to regeneration.

A Dynamic Hub for Innovation and Action

The 2025 Expo was a vibrant catalyst for new ideas and bold action, sparking fresh collaborations and breakthrough solutions across the circular economy. From pioneering technologies to game-changing business models, attendees left inspired and equipped to accelerate sustainability efforts. The energy in Messe Frankfurt was electric proof that this industry is not just evolving but transforming at pace.

Collaborative Culture, Stronger Ecosystem

From panel conversations to the EBMI Party Night, the events fostered a collaborative spirit. ForSURE’s Niclas Brinkmann summed it up: “There’s enormous value locked in this industry – but collaboration is what will unlock it.” Exhibitors and attendees alike left energised by the opportunity to rethink old models and co-create an eco-friendly future.

The 2025 editions proved one thing clearly: Circular economy innovation is no longer on the sidelines – it’s at the heart of strategic growth.
