In just one year, Ecobat has commissioned three lithium-ion battery recycling facilities located in Hettstedt, Germany; Casa Grande, Arizona; and Darlaston, England. These plants are now fully operational and can process 10,000 tons of lithium-ion batteries every year with plans to scale them to a 25,000 tonne capacity.
The plant in Hettstedt processes EV packs, power tools, portable electronics and e-bikes, European collection programs and automotive OEMs.
The plant in Casa Grande ensures that North American and global markets remain accessible to Ecobat’s service, working with battery manufacturers, e-waste recyclers and automotive OEMs. The location has a focus on the efficient processing and recovery of black mass.
England’s Darlaston plant serves the UK and wider European Market, providing diagnostic services and supporting sustainable material flows through the British supply chain.
Brett Horton, Managing Director of Ecobat Solutions, commented “Ecobat’s rapid expansion in lithium-ion battery recycling demonstrates our commitment to meeting the growing demand for sustainable, closed-loop production processes. With EV sales rising and more end-of-life batteries entering the market, our new facilities are well-positioned to meet these challenges, creating value for our partners and stakeholders, while helping to drive the transition to a circular economy.”
Stefanie Scruggs, Chief Sustainability and Health, Safety, Environment Officer at Ecobat, added “We remain dedicated to driving innovation in battery recycling and advancing our mission to create a cleaner, more sustainable future.”
