A new partnership has been created between Redivivus and Re-New-Able Technologies which was announced recently. The purpose of this collaboration is to create the first scalable lithium-ion battery recycling facility within Illinois.
It has been stated that Re-New-Able will be leading this project and in doing this, the company will focus on combining Redivivus’ advanced recycling technology with its commitment to sustainable innovation. Furthermore, this partnership will involve a purchase order for the Redi-Shred process, which will receive support from Redivivus’ expertise when it comes to transforming concepts into operational solutions.
A huge benefit of this new facility, is that it will be able to process batteries which arrive in various states of charge or health and on top of this, they will be receiving them from local businesses, as well as OEM factories. Moreover, the companies have made it clear that there will be a direct focus on offering help and support to Illinois-based efforts, with the direct intention of aiding them in managing battery waste within auto-wrecking yards. The plan to deploy modular units near feedstock suppliers, would lead to a reduction in logistics challenges, whilst it would also lead to the opportunity to build closer and better connections with automotive OEMs, plus battery manufacturers and it would also play the part of enhancing efficiency.
It is expected that this excellent partnership will set a new and better standard for battery recycling. Plus, it is anticipated that this improvement will be seen in the recovery, logistics and finally, environmental impact, effectively creating a realistic and scalable blueprint for the future.
Co-founder and CTO of Re-New-Able Technologies, Ravi Gade, commented, “This partnership marks a groundbreaking moment for Illinois as we establish the state’s first lithium-ion battery recycling facility. By setting new standards for safe battery transportation and recycling, we aim to strengthen Illinois’ position in clean energy innovation while creating a sustainable future for the battery industry. Redivivus’ expertise ensures that batteries are safely processed, and we’re honored to collaborate with their talented team.”
Erika Guerrero, CEO of Redivivus, added, “There are very few black mass sources from the U.S. available to the market. Localizing Redi-Shred in collaboration with Re-New-Able minimizes costs and upholds the highest safety standards for processing variable batteries at scale.”
